This electric powered halcyon concept car designed by Ralph Tayler-Webb (reflex studio) was informed by the anatomy of an owl. The car has an aerodynamic structure with covered wheels and a tapering teardrop cabin which reduces air drag.
Halcyon has a structure made from porous aluminum foam based on the owl’s hollow bones, which makes it surprisingly light for its generous volume. the foam also benefits from high impact and acoustic absorbency, keeping the occupants safe and (without) sound. the covered wheels also mimic the owl’s feather covered legs which make it quiet in flight.
Designing a car based on an animal was a good idea. This baby turned out to be magnificent! Would you say this the best concept design?
